A Teacher does not Know How to Host Parents

Teacher, Karen, does not know how to schedule parent classroom visits and take advantage of their effectiveness. Her team members failed to reach out and guide her through a coaching session.  

The week that Karen hosts the parents in the classroom, she has them sit in the back of class. She did not state the behaviour expectations or the lesson objectives at the beginning of each lesson, so the parents did not know how the students should behave or what they were learning.

Although the parents could observe their child, they were not involved in their learning because they were isolated to the back of the room.  

Because Karen did not know how to host parents in the classroom, student behaviour was inappropriate throughout the lesson including talking, fidgeting and even interrupting the teacher which affected their ability to master the objectives.
