Actions Exercises

‘The Actions’ track starts in lesson five and continues throughout ‘RMSE-LA 1’.

Students learn routines of specific actions and answer questions describing what they did, are doing or will do. Many actions exercises are introduced in a game format.

Use the ‘hand-drop’ or ‘auditory signal’for this exercise.

Turn to pages 18 – 19 ‘RMSE-LA 1’ Teacher’s Guide, exercise 1 with your partner, with no student-errors.

The process involves the following:

  • Say; “We’re going to learn a rule and play some games. Listen to this rule: If the teacher touches the floor, say ‘yes.'” Listen again; “If the teacher touches the floor, say ‘yes'”. Everybody says the rule. Get ready, and signal. Repeat until firm.
  • Ask; “Tell me, what are you going to say if I touch the floor?” and signal.
  • Ask; “Are you going to say yes if I touch the floor?” and signal.
  • Ask; “Are you going to say yes if I touch my head?” and signal.
  • Ask; “Are you going to say yes if say, ‘Touch the floor’?”
  • Say; “Now we’re going to play the game. Let’s see if I can fool you. Get ready!” Pause, touch head and signal.
  • Say; “Get ready” then pause, touch the floor and signal.
  • Say; “See can fool you this time. Get ready!” Pause then say; “Yes” and signal.
  • Say; “Get ready” then pause, touch the floor and signal.
  • Repeat until firm, then say; “That’s the end of the game”.

The Teacher makes sure all students can say the rule before going on with the exercises. The Teacher presents the questions quickly.
