Verb Tense and Statements Exercises

The ‘Verb Tense’ track begins in lesson forty-three. Students review the concepts ‘yesterday’, ‘today’ and ‘tomorrow’ and are taught the appropriate tense for each time.

Some students struggle with verb tense, especially those with English as a second language. Make sure students get sufficient practice saying statements correctly so that they remember the correct format. Repeat these exercises in full and in parts until firm – it is crucial that students answer correctly and confidently.

‘Statements’ begin in lesson fifty-nine and continue to the end of the program. Students learn what a simple statement tells about an event and what it does not tell. Prepare for these lessons by making sure they can name at least ten things that a statement does not tell. This will ensure that they are able to provide examples quickly when students struggle with naming things not told in the statement.
