Introduction to RMSE-LA 2 (Part One)
‘RMSE-LA 2’ – Part One focuses on constructing outcomes. Students make arrows, colour objects according to specific rules, measure, cut and arrange objects.
Students use pencils, crayons and scissors. Students may struggle initially with working quickly and efficiently. Provide strategic support to help Students build the skills for working independently.
Procedures for part one include the following:
- Making sure each Student has required materials before the start of the lesson
- Establishing expectations regarding materials; Students only use materials as directed by the Teacher.
- Establishing expectations for what Students do with materials when finished.
- Demonstrating procedures that require mechanical skills.
- Ensuring that Students have scissors for lessons that require cutting.
- Reinforcing ‘good drawing’ or ‘writing’ by displaying Student work that is done well.
