Corrections in Classification and Clues

For errors in ‘classification and clues’, relate the answer to the given clue. Correct using ‘lead, test, re-test’. In this case, the ‘lead’ step restates and applies the clue.

The process

When asked why the Teacher could not be thinking of a hammer or a screwdriver, Students may answer by saying; “You pound nails with a hammer”. Correct this error by referring to the given clue.

The process involves the following:

  • Say, “Listen: You use this tool to cut. Do you use a hammer to cut?” and signal.
  • Say, “That’s why I could not be thinking of a hammer. Once more…” and signal. “Tell me why could not be thinking of a hammer?”
  • Return to the beginning of the exercise.

Lead

“Listen: You use this tool to cut. Do you use a hammer to cut?”

‘No’.

Test

“That’s why I could not be thinking of a hammer. Once more: Tell me why I could not be thinking of a hammer?”

Individual Student responds; “You don’t cut with a hammer”.

Re-test

Starting over.
All responses down to where error was made and beyond.
