Dialect Exercises

‘Dialect’ exercises start in lesson six and continue through lesson fifty-nine. In these exercises, speech is transformed through a very specific change in the pronunciation of a specific sound.

Students engage in different dialect lessons that reinforce reading and pronunciation skills while teaching a new sound game that students can extend to situations outside school.

Read through exercise five of lesson seven on pages forty-one and forty-two of ‘RMSE-LA 2’ Teacher’s Guide.

Practice the exercise with your partner, ‘pausing and punching’ on the words or phrases in bold.
