Script Features
Presentation books are divided into lessons. The lesson number is in the upper left corner of each page. The last page of the lesson has the words ‘End of lesson’ at the bottom of the page.
- In each lesson, the track titles are in boldface capitals. Track titles tell the skill to be taught in the next tasks.
- What the teacher says is in ‘purple’ type.
- What the teacher does is in ‘black’ type.
- The response expected from students is in italics and round brackets.
- Some exercise titles have lines above and below them. These lines signal a major change in the presentation of the exercise.
The use of scripted lessons promotes consistency in instruction, which can lead to more effective learning outcomes for students. Teaching is efficient and less wordy when the teacher follows the lesson script.
