Matching Single Cards and Rows Correction

Correct all student errors using the prompt, model, test, and retest correction procedure.  

The process is:

  • When students make an error, the teacher prompts students who made the error by showing the difference between what they did and what they should have done.
  • The teacher says, ‘Your card does not look like my card.’
  • The teacher places their card next to a student’s card that matches and says, ‘Here’s the card that looks just like my card.’

Correction procedure steps are:  

Prompt

‘Your card does not look like my card.’

Model

‘Here’s the card that looks just like my card.’
Places card next to student’s card that does match.

Test

‘Look at my card. When I tap, hold up the card that looks just like my card.’
(Auditory signal.)
Hold up the appropriate card.

Retest

‘Let’s do that again. Look at my card.’
(Auditory signal.)
Hold up the appropriate card.
