The principal:

  • creates, promotes and participates in a school environment with a strong school vision, values and expected behaviours
  • participates in coaching or training to promote a positive high-expectations school environment that aligns with the vision, values and expectations of the school and community
  • has high expectations for students regarding their engagement and learning   
  • models positive high expectations for team members
  • builds a culture of collaboration around continuous improvement
  • collaborates with parents on shared school improvement goals
  • demonstrates their support to maximising educational outcomes for students
  • invites parents to have conversations around ways to increase opportunities for improvement
  • leads an environment where reflecting on one’s practice and committing to continuous improvement is the norm
  • frequently provides constructive and positive feedback to team members on their successes and areas of improvement
  • analyses school and classroom data for patterns or anomalies and resolves issues.
