Communicating and Reinforcing the Plan

Communicating and reinforcing the school vision, mission, values and behaviours is ongoing. The principal is the instructional leader who leads the school and community to embrace the school culture around effective teaching and family engagement.

The principal, coaches and teaching team review and develop strategies regularly to reinforce the school vision, mission, values and behaviours.

Principal and Coaches do the following:

  • ensure every member of teaching team receives training in the school’s vision, mission, values and behaviours
  • provide the materials teachers need to have on display in classrooms
  • find different ways to reinforce the school vision, mission, values and behaviours with students and parents at every parade
  • model the school vision, mission, values and behaviours in meetings with parents
  • work with teachers to implement intensive supports for individual students.

Teachers and Teaching Assistants ensure the following:

  • agree to school’s vision, mission, values and behaviours
  • reflect the school vision, mission, values and behaviours in the school, across the community and in conversations with parents
  • reinforce and explain school’s motto, expectations and character traits in the classroom and in conversations with students and parents
  • manage behaviour with a calm, steady voice, no physical contact, and measured body language, respecting students’ space
  • work with principal and coach to implement intensive supports for individual students.
