Iterative Improvement in Classroom Practices

Iterative Improvement in Classroom Practices

Step 1:

Instruction Coach Jess collaborates with Principal Rodriguez as concerns arise during a weekly data review about a decline in student engagement in Ms. Turner’s math class. Jess sees an opportunity to enhance instructional practices. Recognising the importance of the teacher–student relationship, Jess decides to address this concern through the Continuous Improvement Framework.

Step 2:

Jess meets with Ms. Turner to discuss observations and they collaboratively devise a plan to increase student engagement. They introduce interactive learning activities and adjust the pacing of the lessons. Jess emphasises the importance of creating an inclusive classroom environment.

Step 4:

As improvements become evident in student engagement and outcomes, Jess and Ms. Turner reflect on the success of their collaborative efforts. They document the adjustments made during the process and discuss how to sustain and expand these changes. The success story is shared during annual reviews, inspiring other teachers to adopt similar practices.

Step 3:

Weekly check-ins and termly reviews become crucial for assessing the impact of the implemented changes. Jess gathers data on student engagement, participation and achievement. The collaborative effort between Jess and Ms. Turner allows for real-time adjustments and refinement of teaching practices.
