Students are Celebrated for Achieving Standards in a Single Week
Instruction coach, Lucy, has been working closely with the Yr 1 team to reach the standards for Reading Mastery Signature Edition. They have worked on strategies to implement in the classroom, have observed each other with the implementation of teaching techniques such as assigning independent work to support student progress. Lucy has been impressed with teacher, Mary’s, use of teaching techniques with fidelity. For example, Mary ensures that the independent work assigned to students directly aligns with the instruction of the lesson. She has been effectively embedding the practices in her classroom.
Additionally, Mary’s Yr. 1 students have all reached the standards in a single week in the Reading Mastery Signature Edition. This success is celebrated in the classroom and is highlighted to the community in the school parade and in the weekly school assembly. Other teachers observe Mary’s techniques in the following weeks to help them replicate the best practices in their own classroom. This positive effect of applying the practices with fidelity have motived students to continue working towards the set goals.
