Expressive Writing and Student Success

Expressive writing is similar to reading. It involves skills like writing correctly, using punctuation, making interesting sentences, following grammar rules, keeping verb tenses consistent, organizing paragraphs well, and using creativity.

Field evidence shows that many students struggle to achieve success in writing, and teachers often respond in two ways:

  • Some teachers mark errors without teaching the necessary skills, making writing seem difficult.
  • Others overlook mistakes and praise creativity, which leads to wrong ideas, like longer sentences are always better.

These issues add up over time and make it difficult to correct misconceptions. With Expressive Writing 1–2, students learn structured writing skills and consistently practise them to achieve success at school and beyond. These programs help teachers promptly correct students’ improper writing approaches using the right methods.
