The Processes of Identify are not Delivered with Fidelity
The processes of the Identify stage are:
- Assessment for Kindergarten Students
- Assessment for Students Enrolling in School
- Continuous Monitoring and Identification of Additional Needs
- Establishment of a Student Support Team.
When these are not delivered with mastery or fidelity, the negative effects and compounding problems are:
- Students’ needs go unnoticed, they slip further behind, experience entrenched learning failure and disengage from learning.
- Ad hoc support to students results in inconsistencies, leading to low student progress.
- Limited or no parent involvement contributes to poor student diagnosis and minimal student support.
- Support plans are not reviewed and updated, so students are staying on plans for too long and not getting the desired results.
- Minimal parental involvement leads to the teaching team making all the decisions and shouldering the work and responsibility.
- Minimal support for the child’s education at home limits their educational opportunities.
