Professional Impacts: Scenario

Professional Impacts: Scenario
Step 1: Teaching Assistant, Susan notices that Teacher, Liam, is overwhelmed with his workload. Liam, a dedicated educator, is struggling to manage the diverse needs of his students, particularly those with learning difficulties.
Step 2: In an attempt to alleviate Liam’s workload, Sarah offers to support instructional tasks such as preparing materials, grading assignments, and managing classroom behaviour. However, without mastery or fidelity in the support process, Sarah’s assistance becomes inconsistent and lacks alignment with Liam’s teaching strategies.
Step 3: As a result, Liam finds himself overworked and unable to effectively address the disparities in student achievement. The lack of coordinated support leads to inconsistencies in instruction, exacerbating disparities in student performance and creating additional stress for Liam.
Step 4: Over time, Liam and the teaching team become deflated by the lack of progress among students. Low morale and motivation permeate the staffroom as they grapple with the ongoing challenges of ineffective support and poor academic results.
