Process of How to Support Behaviour Interventions
The teaching team plays a crucial role in supporting behaviour interventions. They provide instruction for students on behavioural expectations, reinforce these expectations in their daily interactions, address inappropriate behaviours consistently, and follow established school guidelines if behaviour escalates.
The teacher and teaching assistant:
- consistently reinforce expected behaviours using the school values and positive language during every lesson of each school day

- set up classroom rules and routines, explicitly teach students what is expected, and immediately respond to inappropriate behaviour using a continuum of strategies
- identify minor and major behavioural incidents, and respond accordingly
- record and report all major behaviour incidents using the protocol laid out for data recording and communication at their school
- support development of the Individual Behaviour Plan for their students, when needed
- ensure the Individual Behaviour Plan is delivered with fidelity.
