What Happens When Addressing Inappropriate Behaviour is Delivered with Fidelity

Addressing inappropriate behaviour requires using strategies that prevent behaviours from escalating. The school team consistently uses corrective responses and logical consequences to address inappropriate behaviour.  

Addressing inappropriate behaviours sends a message to students that these behaviours have consistent and logical consequences. Routines are explicitly taught so students clearly understand the expectations and the consequences of not behaving appropriately.  

In a positive high-expectations school, a continuum of logical consequences is designed by school leadership with input from the teaching team and wider school community. When this continuum is implemented with fidelity by all members of the school team and clearly understood by students and parents, relationships are strengthened and a more positive school climate results.
