Process of How to Address Inappropriate Behaviour
The process of addressing inappropriate behaviour begins well before the behaviour takes place. Behaviours and consequences are defined and agreed upon school-wide, so they can be used consistently by all members of the school team and anywhere on the school grounds. Students are specifically taught what behaviours are inappropriate and of the consequences, so they know what is expected of them and what will happen if they choose not to behave appropriately.
- Minor and major inappropriate behaviours are clearly defined and agreed upon by school leadership and the teaching team.

- A continuum of corrective responses and logical consequences for inappropriate behaviours is established and agreed upon.
- Students receive explicit instruction on expected, appropriate behaviour and on consequences for inappropriate behaviour.
- Teachers use a variety of strategies for corrective responses to address inappropriate behaviour in the moment, including proximity and redirection, and further consequences, such as loss of a privilege or a positive time out.
- Consequences are used consistently across the school.
