The Process of How to Enact Behaviour Plans

Behaviour plans for individual students are determined and developed by the school team. This team includes anyone who works directly with the child and will be responsible for providing interventions.

When determining if a behaviour plan is needed, the team must consider three dimensions; frequency, duration, and intensity. Frequency refers to the number of times this behaviour occurs. Duration refers to how long each behavioural interruption lasts. Intensity refers to the degree in which the behaviour impacts the student or learning environment. If it is suspected that a student will benefit from a behaviour plan, the teacher does the following:

• nominates student to PHET for a Behaviour Plan or Intensive Behaviour Plan
• provides student attendance, academics and behaviour data
• participates in the completion of the Context Interview Form
• attends all initial meetings to provide support in developing student goals and strategies
• delivers all parts of the student’s Behaviour Plan and records all data in the Achievement Tracker
• ensures student attends their Social Skills Group lessons and Mentor Program check-ins
• attends student’s review meetings with parents and provides data reports on students’ progress.
