Enacting Behaviour Plans in Action

Step 1: Teacher Sara has observed her student, Raina, blurting and having trouble controlling her body. Raina’s issues in these areas has impacted her ability to make academic progress and is also hindering her relationships with classmates. Sara believes that Raina needs more than the typical Tier 1 supports she already has in place in her classroom.

Step 2: Sara nominates Raina for a Behaviour Plan and provides data on her attendance, academic progress and behaviour.

Step 4: Sara communicates the recommendations with other teachers who work with Raina and with Raina’s parents. In class, Sara makes sure the plan is followed with fidelity. Later, she attends a review meeting with Raina’s parents and provides data to communicate progress towards goals.

Step 3: Sara meets with the team to discuss supports and interventions that can be implemented to help Raina improve her behaviour. It is decided that Raina would benefit from frequent movement breaks, signals, and an incentive plan to help her achieve her goals.
