A Culture of Continuous Improvement and Communication is Not Promoted
Continuous Improvement is a mindset that all members of the school team, including students, must adopt to continue making progress towards goals and improve their practices. Behaviour plans are enacted to help students make progress towards behaviour goals. When a teacher does not enact behaviour plans with fidelity, it sends the message that continuous improvement is not a priority.
Teacher:
- does not enlist the help of the teacher’s assistant, behaviour coach, principal, and parents to develop a plan for the student
- does not encourage student to improve their behaviour or communicate the positive outcomes of that
- rarely communicate progress with the team
- uses punitive language to communicate with student.
Student:
- is not inspired to improve their behaviour
- does not understand the positive and negative impacts of their choices
- is not provided with clear and direct instructions on how to improve
- is not inspired to set and achieve goals.
