Classroom Environment is Less Conducive to Learning
Teachers who do not enact behaviour plans with fidelity lose instructional time because there are more behavioural interruptions. When instructional time is lost, the environment becomes unconducive to learning.
Teacher:
- has less time to spend on academic instruction
- cannot focus attention on the entire class because they must address the behaviour of one
- has more interruptions to teaching.
Students:
- have more interruptions to learning
- cannot access academic content due to the absence of learning accommodations
- are more likely to disengage from the learning environment because of the embarrassment or shame associated with having their behaviour publicly addressed.
