Oversee Positive High-Expectations Practices
Principals ensure positive high-expectations are optimum in common spaces and classrooms, to reinforce school values, rules and routines and student safety in all school spaces. They work closely with the Positive High-Expectations Team to support implementation of the practices.
The principal supports positive high-expectations practices in the school spaces by:
- visiting classrooms and walking school grounds each day to:
- observe the teaching team modelling school values, rules and routines
- observe students exhibiting expected behaviours and provide them with positive feedback
- overseeing playground duty roster to ensure the team are trained to deliver playground duty with fidelity
- ensures team are trained to detect bullying and reduce incidents in high-risk areas like toilets.
The principal also supports the Positive High-Expectations Team (PHET) by:
- setting PHE Roles Chart with behaviour coach
- working with the coach to maintain PHET membership and set meetings timetable
- attending at least 80% or more PHET meetings
- taking PHET meeting learnings into weeklong team conversations
- overseeing term and annual reviews of positive high-expectations implementation.
