Does Not Oversee Positive High-Expectations Practices
Principals do not ensure that positive high-expectations practices are being carried out in common spaces and classrooms. They fail to reinforce school values, rules and routines and do not ensure students have safety in school spaces. They do not work closely with the Positive High-Expectations Team.
The Problem Is Compounded
The principal:
- does not visit classrooms or walk the school grounds each day to observe teachers and students
- does not oversee the playground duty roster so team playground duty is monitored inconsistently
- does not ensure team are trained to detect bullying and reduce incidents in high-risk areas like toilets
- does not support the Positive High-Expectations Team by regularly attending meetings or working with the coach to set roles and schedule meetings
- does not oversee term and annual reviews of positive high-expectations implementation.
