Scenario: Participation on the PHE in Action

Step 1: Coach Marcus is planning the PHET meeting agenda. He speaks to Teacher Lucy to discuss the Weekly Behaviour Data Report. They discuss a series of major behaviour incidents with one student in her class. The two decide this will be discussed at the PHET meeting later in the week.

Step 2: Lucy spends time researching possible intervention techniques that may help this student be successful. She makes note of her findings and sets them aside to present later to the team. She also pulls out anecdotal notes and relevant assessment data that could support her recommendations. Lucy wants to be sure she is prepared to offer input and suggestions.

Step 4: After the meeting, Lucy follows up with the coach to make sure they are on the same page about the intervention. She then debriefs with Teaching Assistant Ramon and assigns him specific tasks to carry out the intervention plan. Lucy takes notes during the implementation process and is prepared to report back to the team at the next meeting.

Step 3: During the meeting, Lucy is an active participant. She contributes input, listens attentively to her colleagues, and asks clarifying questions. She confidently presents her intervention suggestions with evidence to back up her statements. Her colleagues appreciate her preparedness and collaboration. They value her expertise and ultimately, the team decides to employ one of her suggestions for intervention.
