Practice Active Participation and Good Communication
Teachers involved in the PHET need to be active participants as opposed to passive participants. It is important that they make their voices heard during the meetings so that an issue can be examined from all perspectives. To promote collaboration, participants on the PHET also need to practice good communication skills.
To practice active participation and good communication, the teacher:
- is vocal at PHET meetings
- uses data and observations to support recommendations for improvement
- actively listens to other members of the team
- is prepared to answer clarifying questions and accepts alternate suggestions in a respectful manner
- uses eye contact, gestures, tone and facial expressions to indicate engagement.
