Scenario: The Impact of Following Through with Interventions

Scenario: The Impact of Following Through with Interventions

Step 1: At the weekly PHET meeting, the team discussed an issue happening in Teacher Winston’s class. A large group of his students were having trouble regulating their energy when coming in from recess. This was taking away instructional time and causing other behaviour problems to occur.

Step 2: At the end of the meeting, Winston is given the responsibility of carrying out the interventions determined by the team to solve this problem.

Step 4: Winston enacts these interventions immediately and sees a positive change in his students behaviours. He happily reports this good news back to the PHET team and the issue becomes closed.

Step 3: To solve this issue, Winston must facilitate a brief calming break for his students when they come back from recess so they can regain their composure. He also agrees to set up a Zen Den in his classroom for students to go if they require extra time away from the group to calm down.
