Scenario
Step 1: At the weekly PHET meeting, the team discussed an issue happening in Teacher Winston’s class. A large group of his students were having trouble regulating their energy when coming in from recess. It is Winston’s responsibility to incorporate a Zen Den as well as some calming breaks after recess to help his students overcome this challenge.
Step 2: With the rest of the responsibilities that Winston must enact that week, he loses track of time and does not implement the interventions. His students continue to exhibit the behaviours.
Step 3: When it comes time for the next PHET meeting, the team asks Winston to report on how the interventions were going in his classroom. He tells the team that he has not implemented them. The issue needs to remain open until the interventions are attempted.
Step 4: The following day, a student in Winston’s class becomes physically injured after recess because the impulsivity issues had not yet been addressed. The minor problem has now compounded into a major problem and must be readdressed on the PHET.
