The Teacher Delivers Lessons Fluently While Providing Praise: Example

Mercedes (teacher) practised her reading lessons for the week. There is a particular exercise about rhyming that is difficult. As Mercedes teaches the exercise, she can use the correct signals, affirm answers and correct errors without losing any teaching time. She praises her students after the exercise saying,

‘Wow, that was hard. You stuck with it and did a great job!’ As she moves on to the next exercise, she praises students who are following the expectations while doing independent work in another group. Once Mercedes starts the next exercise, she moves at a good pace as she already knows what she needs to do to teach it. She affirms the students and praises them for the work they are doing and the expectations they are meeting.
