Students are Confident, Engaged Learners and Have Appropriate Behaviour: Example

Brett (teacher) greets his students at the beginning of the day, praising them for being on time for school that day. Before the class splits into groups, he reminds them of the expectations for small group work, especially independent work, as students do not have an adult with them during this rotation.

Once Brett begins teaching, he reminds his group of the goal of completing the lesson today. As he teaches, the students are fully engaged, answering on signal, sitting up tall and following the expectations. The independent group needs one small reminder to work on their own. Brett’s group complete their lesson in the required time and can mark that lesson off once they complete their independent work, which is completed in the next rotation.
