Word Practice Correction Procedures

In the previous lesson, you were introduced to the correction procedure used when students make an error during the word practice part of the lesson.

Let’s review the word practice correction procedure using RMT 4 Lesson 9, Exercise 2 on page 2 in your teacher’s course. Take a minute to read over the exercise and make note of the following:

  • Students are looking down at their book so an auditory signal will be used.
  • This exercise contains words with similarities.
  • Students respond in unison following the teacher’s signal.

The word practice correction procedure we reviewed previously is below.

Scenario: Student makes an error on word three, “terrible”.

Model:
Teacher says, “That word is terrible, what word?” (Signal).

Spell: Teacher says, “Spell terrible” (Signal for each letter in the word).

Test: Teacher says, “What word did you spell? (Signal).

Retest: Teacher says, “We will try that again, back to word 1”.
