Effective Teaching and Positive High

Expectations

Coaches understand the synergy between effective teaching and positive high expectations. They understand how using positive language and reinforcement in the classroom helps teachers to:

  • effectively address behaviour 
  • create an atmosphere for receptive listening 
  • boost student self-esteem 
  • increase student engagement and learning. 

Applying the Effective Teaching Model

The coach also recognises that the effective teaching model applies to teaching behaviour expectations, routines, character traits and pro-social skills as well as literacy and numeracy. 

Effective Teaching Techniques Observation Form 

With the Effective Teaching Techniques Observation Form, coaches are able to assess the quality, efficiency and precision of instruction concurrently with the teacher’s use of positive high expectations and engagement techniques.
