Teaching beginning actions formats

In action exercises, students learn concepts through performing and describing actions that are shown in the teacher presentation books.

Actions exercises provide practice of language concepts and word meanings. Students learn the concepts through enjoyable actions.

The Process is:

Actions – statements formats occur in Lessons one through twenty-two. Actions – parts of the body formats are similar and occur in Lessons four through forty-one.
The process is:

  • The teacher raises their hand and says, ‘get ready to do some actions. Watch my hand, remember to wait for the signal’.
  • The teacher says, ‘everybody, stand up’ and signals (hand-drop).
  • The teacher raises their hand again and says, ‘everybody, sit down’ and signals (hand drop).
  • The teacher repeats remainder of the exercise, until students are performing the actions and saying what they are doing.
