Placement Testing

No placement testing is required for students who met the final Fluency: Rate/Accuracy criterion in RMSE K.

Students who passed all individual fluency checkouts on the first attempt, without failing a checkout and then making it up, start at RMSE 1, Lesson eleven.
Students who failed some RMSE K fluency checkouts on the first attempt but passed the final fluency checkout at Lesson 160 on the first attempt start at RMSE 1, Lesson one.
All other students sit for the RMSE 1 placement test.

The following students sit for the RMSE 1 placement test:

students who completed more than 135 lessons of RMSE K but did not complete all 160 lessons
students who initially failed the final fluency checkout at lesson 160 of RMSE K
Students who completed one year of instruction in another reading program.
