Corrections

All students are prone to make mistakes and these mistakes provide valuable information about students’ performance and progress. Knowing how to correct errors and provide feedback effectively is essential to successful teaching. Here are a few points to keep in mind when correcting errors:

  • Correct all errors immediately.
  • Correct the entire group even though only one student may be having difficulty, as more practice prevents other students from making similar errors.
  • Use a quick pace and demonstrate a positive attitude when correcting errors.
  • Praise students when they do not make errors, particularly on difficult items.
