Improve Educational Outcomes for Students

Principal Jounikue analysed collected student data and classroom observation forms with instruction coach Melissa at the weekly data review meeting. They concurred that teacher James needed to improve his use of the full correction procedure. Melissa conducted the classroom observation and, with Jounikue, identified solutions to support the need for improvement. Melissa and James discuss the actions that he can implement to practise using the correction procedure, and the impact this will have on the learning outcomes for his students.

They agree that James will review the steps in the full correction procedure, complete the practice lesson on using the technique in the ET and practise delivering the technique, filming himself so that he can review and evaluate his practice. These strategies form part of lames improvement plan and align with the SIP.

Melissa modelled the technique to ensure that James has a clear understanding of how the practice is performed. She and Jounikue provided support and Melissa conducts a follow-up classroom observation.

James use of the technique has improved, which is reflected in the student mastery data. There has been a significant increase in the percentage of students who achieve mastery on their first attempt.
