Instruction Coach is Challenged

Instruction coach Glen finds it challenging to hold weekly lesson practice sessions for the teaching team at his school. There are frequent changes to the schedule supported by the leadership team that take priority over the lesson practice. Glen rarely has a full teaching team in attendance. This means that these sessions are not conducted as designed and are viewed by many staff in attendance as being an imposition on their time. Some members of the teaching team feel that they are effective teachers and don’t see the benefit of practising for upcoming lessons. They also do not feel the need to observe peers that have mastered their techniques or collaborate with each other.
