Instruction Coach Holds Lesson Practice Sometimes
Instruction coach Robert does not hold lesson practice sessions for the teaching team each week. He runs them when he can but prefers to work with individual staff members to improve their practice. Robert finds, though, that it’s hard to fit all these in so he doesn’t do as many classroom observations or develop improvement plans with individual teachers. He recommends some teachers practise upcoming lessons but doesn’t advise how often or attend them to encourage them to show them how to do it. Based on student mastery data and classroom observations it is apparent that they are either not practising, or their practice is ineffective as they still appear to lack confidence in their delivery and are still making errors in performing some techniques. There has been little progress made in improving their professional practice.
