Improves Educational Outcomes
for Students
Teacher Blake has been working with his instruction coach on completing lessons in standard time. During an effective teaching techniques observation, Blake’s instruction coach noted that Blake was transitioning too slowly in between activities and was not adhering to the lesson script. Blake completed alternate activities to capture the attention of the class and follow their curiosity. As a result, Blake was unable to complete lessons in standard time which affected students’ ability to achieve mastery, make standard progress and catch up.

Blake and his instruction coach agreed upon an improvement plan and with support and coaching Blake implemented the improvement activities. Blake completed the practice lesson on this technique. With practise, Blake was able to ensure that his transitions were efficient, and he made a concerted effort to follow the lesson script as it was written. Student mastery, lesson progression and observation data reflected the improvements in Blake’s practice which led to better improvements in students understanding and mastery tests.
