Builds Collegiality and a Culture

of Collaboration

When the teaching team observe delivery of effective teaching techniques by their peers it actively builds collegiality and encourages a culture of collaboration. It forges relationships built on respect and trust between members of the teaching team. Guided by the instruction coach, members of the teaching team learn from observing lessons conducted by peer who has been identified as having expertise in or mastery of the technique. By conducting peer lesson observations, it encourages an open-door policy among the teaching team, where observations are welcomed and a common occurrence.

How it works
Peer lesson observations recognises and uses the knowledge and gifts of more experienced teachers, to model effective teaching practice for less experienced staff. The teaching team observe best practice and engage in professional conversation with the instruction coach, who provides feedback to reinforce the practice. By learning from one another, the teaching team create supportive relationships and provide guidance to one another with the intention of improving their practice and maximising educational outcomes for their students.
