Students do not get Adequate Practice and Confidence Drops

When a teacher does not use signals effectively, opportunities for students to practise the skill or lesson content are decreased. They are not able to develop their understanding, reinforce skills, or gain confidence in answering correctly in front of their peers.

What happens in this case:

The problem is compounded.

Students struggle to understand the lesson content and achieve mastery. Students lose confidence in their ability when they are not able to demonstrate their understanding and mastery of content. They can also become self-conscious and reluctant to respond in front of their peers. When this occurs consistently, they can lose confidence in their ability to learn.
