The Teacher Makes Informed Decisions About Student Learning

Effective teaching requires teachers to know which students are making errors, the type of errors, and how to correct them. When teachers address specific group errors, they can be confident that students are demonstrating skills appropriately and are building knowledge and confidence.

How it works:

  • The teacher continuously checks to see if students have mastered content before moving on.
  • The teacher monitors students throughout the lesson to track students’ understanding, where they are making errors and where additional practice is required to become firm.
  • Teachers can attend to student errors and mastery which enables them to be efficient in resolving any learning issues that show up during the lesson.
  • The teacher ensures that students are firm on each step before going on in the lesson.
  • The teacher ensures every student answers correctly and with confidence.
