Features of Direct Instruction

Specific features for organisation and management of Direct Instruction include scheduling, grouping, physical arrangement and behaviour expectations.

Students are taught on every available school day for the number of minutes specified in the program.

Students are placed in homogenous, flexible skill groups based on a placement test.

Instructional groups are physically arranged in the classroom according to the specific Direct Instruction program.
