What Happens When Conduct Coaching is not Delivered with Fidelity
When instruction coaches do not conduct coaching with fidelity then teachers do not improve their techniques and practices. Teachers are not being observed, assessed and provided with feedback to develop teaching practices and do not feel supported. When teachers are not supported then the students are not supported in their learning and learning outcomes.
The Problem is Compounded
The instruction coach:
- is not observing teachers to assess their teaching techniques and practices
- is not providing meaningful feedback to teachers for improvement
- is not demonstrating mastery to the teaching team
- is not holding coaching sessions to have conversations with teachers
- is not supporting teachers.
The principal:
- is not observing student engagement in the classroom.
