A Teacher does not Improve Their Practice

Teacher, Lachlan, frequently does not finish lessons in standard time. He likes to add in alternative or additional activities to capture his students’ attention. Lachlan does not believe this has a negative impact on his students, even though he must go back and reteach sections of lesson content that students have not understood or mastered.

This pattern continues lesson after lesson, week after week. The instructional leaders do not conduct observations, provide feedback or suggest improvement actions. Nothing changes in Lachlan’s practice, and as a result students are not making standard growth or catching up.
