What Happens When Noting Response to Check for Mastery is Delivered with Fidelity?

Effective teaching requires teachers to note responses to check for mastery. Teachers take note of student responses throughout the lesson and independent work to assess whether students are learning the content or not.

When teachers note responses to check for mastery continuously through all parts of the lesson, they know if students have mastered the content or if they need to reinforce or reteach specific parts of the lesson.

The purpose of noting responses during lessons is to measure the effectiveness of instruction. Students respond individually and chorally, and in a variety of ways throughout the lesson. Teachers correct or affirm each student’s response and adjust instruction based on the information gained from these responses.
