The Teacher Uses Data to Make Informed Decisions to Respond to Student Learning

How it Works

The teacher:

  • regularly examines data, paying attention to patterns of success and difficulty
  • uses data to inform instructional decisions about whether students can move on, be accelerated or what segments of lessons to repeat
  • immediately responds to students’ needs by remediating and retesting a specific skill, or by seeking advice from the instruction coach about regrouping students or assessing that they are placed in the appropriate program
  • notes and tracks student errors to see if students are consistently making errors on a particular skill and if several students are making the same error.
