Students are Confident and Engaged Learners and Have Appropriate Behaviour

The teacher, Dawson, assigns independent work for students to complete. While they are working, he actively monitors their answers. He completes some checking while circulating among students, marking correct answers with a ‘c’. If he notices an error, he puts a dot beside the item and tells them to take another look at that one. His students work diligently to answer all the questions correctly.

Dawson notices that four of his twelve students all missed the same item. He tells students to put their pencils down and reteaches that item. After all workbooks are completed and checked, Dawson enters a per cent score for each student’s work. All students scored eighty-five per cent or higher. Students have evidence of their learning and their self-confidence grows. Dawson notes that no reteaching is required as all students scored at least eighty-five per cent on their independent work.
