The Teacher is Unable to Use Data to Make Informed Decisions to Respond to Student Learning

The Problem is Compounded

  • The teacher cannot see which students need support or areas to reteach.
  • The teacher does not know what teaching techniques to improve to increase their impact on student growth.
  • There is no assurance that students are mastering the content, only that the group is making lesson progress.
  • If students are not firm on each exercise before doing independent work, the group will not meet the standard of eighty-five per cent first-time correct.
  • The teacher cannot note student errors to see if several students are consistently making errors on a particular skill. Nor can they determine which students are making the same error.
