Teacher’s Role in Motivation

Effective teachers maximise motivation and student success in how they set up their classroom environment. They do this through setting up appropriate motivational systems.

Effective teachers frequently praise student for their efforts and success through continuous feedback flow during the lesson.

Affirmations are an example of this. An affirmation is simply the word ‘yes’ in a positive, lively tone followed by the student’s answer. Affirmations provide another repetition for students and validate their correct answer. Affirmations are scripted within a lesson or added on by the teacher.
